Free Trade Zone Montevideo

A duty-free zone located in a privileged area for the operations taking place in the Southern Cone

It is 9 km away from Carrasco's International Airport and 17 km away from the only Free Port on the Atlantic Ocean in South America (Montevideo's Port). It also has a waterway that connects the whole Southern Cone through a deep draft port.

 

In this place, the goods, products and inputs can enter and stay for undetermined time, not being subject to yearly income taxes, Added Value taxes, taxes specific to consumption, assets and Customs, same as rights, rates and taxes of import and export common in other free-zone areas. In addition, the goods and inputs are not subject to limitations of quotas or prohibitions of any type, except for explosive materials, ammunition or armaments.

 

According to law, products in customs transit within a Free Trade Zone in Uruguayan territory remain free of all taxes created or to be created, as well as import taxes.

 

This allows the clients of GRUPO SELSA to store, stock and re export products coming from other countries, paying all the taxes related to their import only when the products enter the general customs territory of the country of destination.
